The Power of Thanks

Good vibes, gratitude & gravy

Often, November is associated with giving thanks. It’s recognized as National Gratitude Month, and it centers the holiday of Thanksgiving.

How do you practice thankfulness during this month? Do you reflect on and express gratitude for the positive aspects of your life? It may seem cheeseballs to some, but as an annual reminder to recognize our gratitude, I encourage it wholeheartedly.

Here’s my three simple ways you can honor the moment this November:

  1. Gratitude journaling - plan to write one gratitude entry in your journal each week. All you have to do is free write… It can be a list of things that make you smile, a story of something positive from your week, or it can be a “thank you” for all the blessings in your life.

  2. Expressing thanks - Send a note to a colleague, or a text to a long lost friend. Maybe even write a little thank you to a partner or housemate for them to find when they least expect it.

  3. Giving back to the community - Collect canned foods, volunteer with the youth, invite someone new for Thanksgiving, or sign up for a shift to serve Thanksgiving dinner at a shelter.

On November 3rd, I started a professional project with my colleague, Virgilia Virjoghe. We’ll be collaborating with the remarkable Olivia Ramirez Smith. She's the award-winning producer of The Earthing Movie and author of The Mother Earth Effect Vol. 1, and soon to be released, Vol. 2. Olivia is also the co-author of the #1 best-selling Sacred Spaces: Subtle Shifts for Mind, Body, and Home Transformation - recipient of the Books for Peace International Award.

Known globally as The Earthing Ambassador, Olivia is a pioneering voice in the movement to help people - especially women - reconnect with the healing energy of Mother Earth. She's the Founder and CEO of The Mother Earth Effect LLC, a wellness and education company dedicated to empowering women through books, documentaries, and products that reveal the transformative power of healing through earthing, one step at a time.

✨ A Double Reason to Give Thanks

This year, Thanksgiving feels a little extra special for me - it happens to fall on my birthday! It's not every year that I get to celebrate both gratitude and another trip around the sun on the same day.

As I prepare for the holiday, I'm reminded that birthdays and Thanksgiving share something beautiful in common: they both invite reflection. A birthday reminds us to look back at where we've been and who we've become, while Thanksgiving centers us in the moment - appreciating what and who we have right now.

This year, I'm celebrating by leaning into gratitude more deeply than ever.

I'm thankful for the people who fill my life with kindness and laughter, for the opportunities to grow, and for the simple joys that make each day meaningful.

So, as I blow out the candles and pass the pumpkin pie, I'll be making one big wish - to carry this spirit of gratitude beyond November and into each day that follows.
